Are you feeling isolated or in need of support in your journey as a clinician? Consultation groups can be an invaluable resource for creating safety to explore cases, to connect with other professionals, to stay curious about ourselves and our profession, to grow our practices, and to continue learning and growing. The 2025-2026 group is currently full and capped at eight members.
2026-2027 cohorts are forming now. There will be two offerings: one cohort that is focused on experiential learning and consultation and the other will be focused on private practice growth and consultation. They will run every other week from September to May (excluding holidays). See below for details. I am happy to schedule a free, 15-30 minute Zoom call to talk to you about whether or not group feels like a good fit. Please email me (click the button below or email me at info@theconnectedtherapist.org) to schedule this, ask questions, or to inquire about saving your seat in one of the groups. Please note that a $70 deposit is required to hold your spot but will be applied to our first group meeting.
It’s easy to feel like you have to carry everything on your own in this work—the clinical load, the emotional weight, the constant pressure to do more and know more. Over time, that can quietly wear you down. Burnout doesn’t always show up as a breakdown—it often looks like going through the motions, feeling disconnected from the work you once loved. These groups are here to offer a consistent place to return to for community, honest consultation, and continued personal and professional growth. A space where you don’t have to hold it all alone—and where your work (and well-being) can be supported in meaningful ways.
These groups are for you if:
There will be eight spaces in each group available for clinicians to keep the group intimate and create space for vulnerability and time sharing.
This cohort centers on building your experiential therapy skills within a supportive, collaborative consultation space. Through case consultation, experiential exercises, and brief teaching to support learning and integration, you will have the opportunity to both receive support and actively practice new ways of working that create deeper change with clients.
Build community and connection with a brief check-in and space to share what you're carrying or thinking about.
Each meeting includes learning grounded in neuroscience and rooted in experiential work. No prior training in working experientially needed.
Bring your difficult cases or clinical challenges and receive support in a compassionate, respectful environment.
This cohort offers both clinical case consultation with support for growing your existing private practice within a collaborative, supportive space. Because most therapists were never taught how to run a business, we will include discussion around marketing, developing offerings, and building the practice that aligns with your goals, while also offering space for individualized support around your specific goals and challenges, whether you are looking to fill your caseload or expand beyond 1:1 work into groups or courses.
Build community and connection with a brief check-in and space to share what you're carrying or thinking about.
Grow and scale your practice with support around marketing, developing offerings, creating systems, and learning how to run your business with clarity and intention.
Bring your difficult cases or clinical challenges and receive support in a compassionate, respectful environment.
You will be charged $70/consultation meeting. You will be charged for each group meeting regardless of attendance.
Yes. I understand that life happens, but group depends on consistency and facilitation happens regardless of your attendance. A consistent group structure helps build safety, trust and momentum. Many people find that committing financially, even when they occasionally have to miss, helps reinforce their commitment to their own process and to the group. It is part of the container that makes the group effective. Also, to avoid confusion or case-by-case decisions, I have found it works best to have a consistent, blanket policy across the board.
The experiential learning + case consultation cohort will be held on Fridays from 10-11:30am CST on Zoom. See above for schedule of dates.
The business focused + case consultation cohort will be held every other Wednesday from 12-1:30pm CST on Zoom. See above for schedule of dates.
Jen Alley, LPC-S will facilitate the groups.
I have been in practice for over 16 years, first in the non-profit world and in private practice for the past 13+ years. I love to learn, am a total research nerd, and am in ongoing trainings and consultations myself.
This year, I became STAIR certified (a brain-based integrated method of experiential therapy created by Julianne Taylor Shore - I've studied with her for over a decade). I also am currently participating in a new consultation group of therapists who work with couples (also facilitated by Juliane Taylor Shore) and am in a STAIR practice group.
Last year, I had the privilege of going back to Bonnie Badenoch's for her training, Therapy as a Spiritual Practice and have immersed myself in her work and trainings over the past several years.
I am passionate about continuing to integrate neuroscience research into my practice. Much of the work I do is trauma work and experiential in nature.
I am also trained in EMDR, Accelerated Resolution Therapy, Dr. Brené Brown’s Daring Way™ and Rising Strong ™ curriculums. I have completed the Level I training in Emotional Transformational Therapy and have studied both Interpersonal Neurobiology and Coherence Therapy in various formats the past several years. I utilize sand tray and have been focused on integrating my training with Bonnie Badenoch into my practice. I work primarily with individuals and also see some couples (my couples training is in Gottman and Relational Life Therapy) . I have been married for almost fifteen years and have two children (ages 12 and 10). Before becoming a therapist, I was a teacher. I love what I get to do for work and look forward to working with you!
These consult groups are for therapists who would like a supportive, collaborative community of clinicians who are passionate about learning and growing and are interested in experiential therapies for adults.
In the cohort focused on experiential skill building, we will focus on learning to work experientially as it supports deeper, bottom-up change in the nervous system. When clients have new experiences in session, it creates opportunities for integration, neuroplasticity, and lasting transformation.
The cohort that includes the business focus is best suited for therapists at any stage of private practice who want to grow or scale their practice and would like help with marketing, starting a group, using systems to operate their business, managing their business like a CEO, etc.
Both cohorts will include time for case consultation.
Ultimately, the groups will evolve to be what the participants want and need.
It is important to know that while I had schooling in play therapy and sand tray, most of my work and training is not focused on working with young children. In the agency world, I worked with teens and families as well as adults and now I only work with adult individuals and couples.
